About me

Overview

Well, as I said, I am a guy who loves to design and bring people together through effective communication and technology.

I am currently living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland, but am looking to relocate to Portland, Oregon.

I currently spend my days designing and developing better ways for people to share information and work more efficiently at Lloyds Banking Group – the UK’s largest banking group.

This involves being open to a variety of techniques and technologies to solve problems or create opportunities to meet the information sharing needs of the organization while continuing to be sustainable within their business governance framework.

In this role I’m required to work closely with multiple stakeholders across the organization and engage our clients, who range from project teams to the company executives, in a meaningful and productive way throughout all phases of the project life cycle, ensuring the best possible results for the company.

The last few years I’ve managed and delivered a diverse range of projects relating to web design and development, providing expertise and guidance in strategic communications planning, change management, organisational culture, and all aspects of collaboration and online technology to a company called Scottish Widows - which is now part of Lloyds Banking Group.

During this time, I have created two company intranets, designed hundreds of websites (I’m not kidding, literally hundreds of internal websites to support one corporate initiative or another), countless online magazines, and ezines while also managing all aspects of the company’s online communication activities.

I’ve also been doing freelance digital design work for many companies, non-profit organizations and small businesses through my own company, Okami.

This work has often taken a ‘back seat’ but I’m keen to progress my freelance work and also to create web applications that will improve the way in which the communication industry works.
